Registration
How do I register on GeM as a proprietor in 2026?
A sole proprietor registers on the Government e-Marketplace at gem.gov.in using their PAN, Aadhaar-linked mobile, Udyam certificate, GST (if applicable) and a business bank account. The complete flow — account creation, seller profile, catalog listing and MSE benefit activation — takes 7–14 working days when documents are in order.
Read answerWhat documents are needed for GeM seller registration?
You need PAN, Aadhaar (linked to a mobile number), Udyam Registration Certificate, GST certificate (if applicable), a current-account bank statement or cancelled cheque, and ITR of the past three years. Manufacturers additionally need proof of manufacturing (factory licence, BIS/ISO certificate); resellers need an OEM Authorisation Letter for every brand they sell.
Read answerHow long does GeM seller registration take?
A complete GeM seller registration with catalog listing and MSE benefits activated typically takes 7–14 working days when documents are in order. Basic account creation is same-day, but catalog vetting, OEM verification and MSE benefit activation each add 2–5 working days.

Read answerBidding
GeM vs traditional government tenders — which should I pursue?
For MSEs starting out, GeM is the faster and more transparent entry point — no physical bid submission, standardised documents, EMD exemption, and MSE reservations up to ₹200 crore. Traditional tenders (CPP portal, state e-procurement portals) still carry larger and more specialised opportunities; the right answer for most MSEs is 'both, in that order'.
Read answerHow do I bid on a GeM tender as a first-time seller?
Search live bids on GeM, download the RFP, prepare a technical bid (documents + declarations) and a financial bid (your quoted price), then submit both digitally using your Class 3 DSC before the closing time. First-time MSE bidders should target small-value bids (below ₹5 lakh) in their exact product category to build past-performance credentials.

What benefits and exemptions do MSEs get on GeM?
Registered Micro & Small Enterprises get price preference (up to 15% on split tenders), EMD (Earnest Money Deposit) exemption on most categories, and reservation on tenders below ₹200 crore — with sub-reservations of 3% for women-owned MSEs and 4% for SC/ST-owned MSEs. Benefits must be claimed correctly in every bid; they are not applied automatically.
Read answerAre MSEs exempt from EMD (Earnest Money Deposit) on GeM tenders?
Yes. Micro & Small Enterprises with a valid Udyam Registration are exempt from paying EMD on GeM tenders across most product and service categories. The exemption must be actively claimed in each bid — upload your Udyam certificate and tick the MSE benefit checkbox at bid submission.
